Just stumbled across this during a search for... I don't even remember now. Awesome photo I thought I'd share with fellow Opponauts.

So powerful and inefficient you'd think they were American!

Cutting edge technology in the 70's when they were built.

The speeds they hit for an airliner are cutting edge today.
It's a shame they burned a truck load of fuel per mile lol. Personally, I think they're badass and I wish I could have gotten a ride on one.

One of my pals did in the 90's at some point. I think he told me the ticket was $8k to France. Not sure if that was one way or r/t.

WOW
That's crazy money. I suppose they had to re-coup costs somehow though. And at least he can say he got a ride on one!

That jet lost money for BA and AF from day one. Like you said, those Rolls Olympus engines sucked fuel like a frat boy at a keg party. Pretty amazing experience to have flown in one though. The food onboard was incredible I was told.

At least they didn't cut corners, its odd to hear they didnt serve typical crap food to try and save some $$.

Concorde was always a premium service, and nothing like the cattle car experience flying is today. For the kind of $$ they charged to fly on that jet (8k in 1979 dollars is $27k today) passengers would have mutinied over crappy food.
